Events
One of the greatest strengths of our practice is our ability to custom-make art work that complements special events. We alter the experience of being in an environment, as walls and architecture become our temporary canvas.
Our images have been the centre-piece for many arts festivals, events and conferences. We are able to design either a single mural or longer more interactive or evolving programs.
The versatility of surfaces we can work on enables us to create scenes both on interior and exterior spaces. Tape works well on a range of walls and floors, including concrete, glass, stone, brick, carpet, billboards and some painted surfaces.
RECENT EVENTS:
We've just finished a big project called "EnRapture" for the Wellington Fringe Festival from 20-24th Feb. We installed a 3m cube in the Civic Square where we experiemented with ripping through a billboard skin layer to reveal another brighter world of connections beneath.
A great time was had in Germany with the New Zealand contingent at the Frankfurt Book Fair. We collaborated on a street art and poetry performance series with kiwi poet Kate Camp on the Stadtbücherei (city library).
You can check out our DaydreamerFrankfurt tumblr for a record of daily postings of images and poems, or our Facebook folder for a selection of images.
Many thanks to Bettina Senff & the Goethe Institut NZ, New Zealand Embassy in Berlin, Publishers Association New Zealand, Denis & Verna Adam through the Adam Foundation, Icebreaker New Zealand, and Sarah Ropata & the "While You Were Sleeping" committee.
Erica also drew and ran a workshop at the Eighth Global Mural Conference - a congress on economic development through arts & tourism - in Chemainus, BC, Canada. She had a great time meeting murallists and folks from over the world.
What a fantastic community response we had at the Greytown Arts Festival! We drew a huge dragon and extended parade as an interpretation of "the last piece" theme onto the Fresh Choice supermarket. The weather was surprisingly cooperative, and we managed to secure the entire wall.
We joined forces with Andi Mether - Managing Director of Zest Events in Australia. We will be adding a fresh new dimension to the ephemeral art Zest has on offer for clients, and we will have the benefits of a management company experienced with producing innovative street art projects across the Pacific.
We presented at Wellington's Pecha Kucha night. "Tape Art: Adventures in Ephemera" condensed many years of our taping exploits into the short (20 secs x 20 images) presentation. Thanks to Craig for the invitation, seeing the other diverse and diverting presenters ensures we'll be back to see more fascinating PK nights.
